Music
We love Music at Spratton! In 2024 - 2025 we were recognised with a Music Mark award. We follow the Kapow teaching scheme and skill progression to teach music. All children have a music lesson each week. The curriculum covers a number of musical styles and enables children to develop their own musical compositions using pitch, dynamics and texture to layer sound.
All children are offered the opportunity to learn a musical instrument; a peripatetic teacher from NMPAT visits every week to teach guitar and keyboards. All children in year 3 and 4 also have an introduction to an instrument (e.g. African drums, recorder, ukulele) in a 10 week block each year.
We are also delighted to partner with Rocksteady Music School, offering all children the chance to be in a rock band! Children can choose to learn drums, keyboards, bass or rhythm guitar or vocals with their friends.
We enjoy singing and sing at every opportunity, including in class, in worship, in church and even on the Derngate Stage!
